Targeted clinical-psychological examination

Uncovering pathological personality traits can be lengthy and problematic in the course of therapy. Many of the sub-symptoms, such as self-harm, psychogenic overeating, impulsive substance abuse, persistent relationship problems, aggression, etc., are based on a particular personality pathology. Without pinpointing this cause, therapy may be ineffective and lacking in effectiveness.

What can be found out with targeted diagnostics?

The targeted examination is intended for clients aged 12 years and older. On the basis of this examination, the presence of various types of psychopathology can be demonstrated. These findings are subjected to further testing to ensure even more accurate results. For adults, this is primarily to determine the presence of:

  • features of borderline personality disorder and other types of personality disorders
  • psychotic symptoms and schizophrenia spectrum disorders
  • assessment of cognitive and psychological functions
  • ADHD
  • affective (depressive) disorders
  • disorders within the anxiety spectrum
  • post-traumatic stress disorder

In adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18, we primarily diagnose the presence of signs:

  • disharmonious personality development (personality disorder can be diagnosed as late as 18 years of age)
  • psychotic symptoms
  • affective (depressive) disorders
  • disorders within the anxiety spectrum
  • ADHD
  • post-traumatic stress disorder
  • behavioural disorders
  • eating disorders

Benefit of clinical-psychological examination

Psychodiagnostics can make the therapeutic process faster and more effective. Following a focused examination, the diagnosing psychologist can also recommend methods and goals that should be central to the current therapy. Targeted diagnosis is also a precise basis for the work of the psychiatrist, who can better specify the form of pharmacotherapy according to the results.

How does the examination work?

The psychodiagnostic examination is a complex and long process that is spread over 2 sessions (diagnostic interview and test methods). The overall process looks like this:

  • Diagnostic interview (1 hour) with a psychologist. In the combined form, this part can be absent in the online form.
  • Test methods* (2.5 hours), which must be taken directly at the clinic.
  • The psychologist then spends the next 2-3 hours evaluating the test and preparing the report. This is done without the client's participation. The client receives this report no later than 14 days after the targeted examination.
  • Consultation of results with an expert.

During the diagnostic interview with the psychologist, you choose the date of the second meeting together.

The whole process can be completed in a combined form, where the client comes to the clinic in person only once for a second session (about 2.5 hours). The client can attend the first meeting from the comfort of his/her home online.

*Testing methods include, depending on the client's request, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory®-2 (for clients over 18 years of age), a battery of cognitive tests (memory, attention, visuo-spatial skills, executive and speech functions), and intelligence tests (IST-2000 R). For minors, we also use such items as the Conners 3 Structured Test (assessment of ADHD and comorbid disorders), the Adolescent Apperception Cards (AAC), or the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS), among others.
