Sleep disorder, insomnia or hyposomnia, manifests itself in a variety of symptoms. The most common is the inability to fall asleep, intermittent sleeping, early waking without the ability to continue sleeping, night terrors and many others. Some sleep disorders have a physiological cause, typically apnoea, for example, where the sufferer experiences a reduction in muscle tone in the pharynx. However, most sleep disorders have a psychological cause, most often accompanying symptoms of anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, stress disorders or addictive disorders.
