What to expect from the services of a psychiatrist?

Any effective treatment of a mental health problem should begin with an examination and a proper name. The initial and diagnostic examination is carried out by the diagnosing psychologist. The psychotherapist, who by profession is also most often a psychologist with appropriate postgraduate training, provides therapy with words - i.e. psychotherapy. A psychiatrist, who is a doctor by profession, can help with more serious problems by providing appropriate medication. It is of course essential that the psychiatrist and psychotherapist work closely together.

Modern and gentle medication

Pharmacotherapy is a field that is developing extremely rapidly and it is important for psychiatrists to be familiar with the latest treatment options. Indeed, many psychological problems can now be solved gently. Drugs that are highly addictive, alter the client's personality, severely depress him, limit the quality of his experience or have unpleasant side effects are, fortunately, in many cases a thing of the past. Modern psychiatry works in partnership and in close collaboration with the findings of psychology.

No sufferer should be afraid of the directive, overly authoritative or even dismissive behaviour of psychiatrists nowadays. As part of the provision of psychiatric services, our clinic also offers the possibility of telemedicine, i.e. providing consultations to non-Prague clients via online video calls or by telephone.

Private psychiatric services

Details of diagnoses and other sensitive information are kept strictly confidential in the case of private psychiatric examinations and are, as a matter of principle, not recorded in the patient's regular medical records. After the initial examination and the setting of optimal medication, the patient then uses psychiatric services approximately once every two to three months. In the event of a deterioration in his condition, the psychiatrist is of course immediately available

In order to maintain the quality of the health care provided, prescriptions cannot be prescribed as a standard without a proper follow-up examination, e.g. only on the basis of an e-mail or telephone call from the client. The intervals between follow-up examinations are a maximum of three months, with exceptions being determined by the doctor.
