Internet addiction

This is a non-substance addiction for which complete abstinence is not possible, and therapy should work primarily on strengthening self-control and a deep understanding of the psychological triggers of this impulsive behaviour. Simply put - it is not the internet that has caused our addiction. It's something inside us, some unfulfilled need that we unconsciously compensate for or some unpleasant psychological condition that we override with this activity.

Do you think you need help or at least want more clarity? Make an appointment for a no-obligation initial and diagnostic consultation or just give us a call, we will be happy to advise you and help you with everything. At our first meeting we will talk about your difficulties, find out the severity of your problems and the possible causes. We will suggest a course of action and, if necessary, select your personal therapist so that he/she not only meets your professional requirements, but also suits you humanly.

How do I know if I'm addicted?

  • Lately, I'm often tired, I don't sleep well, my mood swings are violent
  • A mobile phone, laptop or PC is one of the most important things for me ever
  • In case I don't have it available or I'm without an internet connection, I can even get angry
  • Occasionally I suffer from headaches or back pain that I didn't know before
  • I get nervous or aggressive when I can't be online, if I connect it usually stops
  • The time I'm online is getting longer and longer
  • Lately, I've been having trouble concentrating, short-term memory problems.
  • I find conversations with friends and acquaintances pretty boring.
  • I'm slowly giving up all my other hobbies
  • I am able to endure unpleasant conflicts with my family so that I don't have to give up my hobby
  • Recently I have noticed weight loss or weight gain

If at least three of the above statements apply to you or your child, you need to be very careful. It is evident that the Internet has ceased to be a good servant and is becoming a bad master. Addiction to electronic media (Internet, computer games, social networks) is a serious diagnosis, and the number of addicts is increasing rapidly, mostly among young people.

The most effective therapeutic interventions include cognitive-behavioural therapy, combined with elements of motivational psychology and the Mindfulness stress reduction treatment programme.

"I feel better in the virtual world than in the real one. It's actually much safer, more fun and more understandable..."
